Your photos, on hardware you own.
Niji is a personal cloud for families. Your photos live on a small device in your home, and every file is encrypted on your device before it leaves it.
We never hold the keys. Signing in is the one moment your password reaches us, verified and discarded.
Encrypted before it leaves
Files are encrypted on your device before they leave it. The relay stores and moves ciphertext.
Hardware you own
Your photos live on hardware you own — a Plug, a Box, or a computer you already have.
Shared space, separate libraries
You can share storage with family without sharing your library. Each person's data is separate.
A device you don't have to look after
The Plug updates itself over the internet, and undoes an update that goes wrong.
Nothing you can do to the Plug will erase a photo.
Reset touches the device's credentials; your photos are on the disk, and the two are physically separated.
There is no button on the device — not even a reset.
If it loses its network, Bluetooth returns on its own so your phone can fix it.
More about the Plug and the Box →
Niji keeps one copy of each file, on your disk. If that disk fails, what is on it is lost. Keep your originals until you have a second copy somewhere else.
Where things stand
Niji is in development. The Windows and Mac apps exist but cannot be installed by the public yet, and the Plug and Box are not for sale.
